WHP’s field services team are able to handle all aspects of telecoms field service activities.
The scope of the field team’s capabilities is wide but includes:
- Rack build
- DC power installation
- Wiring of trib cables and CAT5e installation / testing
- Audits of ODF & DDF systems
- Configuration of PDH and SDH muxes
- Setting up base stations and microwave transmission links and fault finding
WHP’s experienced team can also perform throughout tests at layer 1 / 2 on fast Ethernet / Gig E links in accordance with RFC 2544 and BERT test on legacy PDH / SDH equipment.
WHP’s teams are equipped with multiple crimp tools, connectors, cables and consumables to enable them to cope with almost any eventuality on site – this minimises re-visits, keep costs down and minimises carbon footprint.
With a large telecommunications network infrastructure project there is always the potential problem of hardware shortage or ‘out of box failure’. At WHP, we understand the costly nature of such occurrences and have developed a flexible process to minimise the possibility of such scenarios.
The organisation of staff, material and plant is all handled by a dedicated Project Manager and Co-ordinator to ensure smooth rollout of any network build.
Our central warehousing facility in Leeds can be used to receive and distribute hardware through the UK. Not only that, but bench testing and configuration can be carried out at the same facility.
Working with a handful of transport partners, WHP are able to ensure that the correct hardware arrives at the correct location at the correct time.
Project Co-ordinators micro manage the flow of hardware through WHP’s systems to ensure that shortages do not occur.

Despite the increasing availability of fibre optic systems for backhaul transmission, microwave radio still accounts for a huge proportion of backhaul transmission links and also as resilience to optical fibre connections.
WHP’s team can handle all aspects of microwave point to point work – from initial desktop calculations and line of sight work through to path budgets and Ofcom License applications and eventually to install, pan & commission on site.
WHP’s engineers have worked with microwave equipment from all major manufacturers including Siae, Ericsson, Nokia, Nera, Harris-Stratex & P-Com. Our teams have been involved with deployments from the Lower 6 GHz band (utilising waveguide) all the way up to the short range Gig E 80 GHz ‘E band’ and everything in between.
Our teams are capable of carrying out installation and commissioning of (1+1) and (2+0) systems, including those employing space diversity and cross polar interference cancellation.

WHP have been dealing with network deconstruction and reinstatements for over 10 years. Initially on forced site move / churn projects and more recently on operator planned consolidation pieces.
WHP understand the risks and dependencies and have the staff and processes in place to engage with these works and provide a true value added service.
Asset recovery, network equipment resale and recycling services are offered too with disposal by a licenced operator being the last resort.
We seek to minimise the infrastructure that has to be physically removed thus reducing costs dramatically to our client.
